How to Cool with QuietCool

So now that you have purchased the best whole house fan on the market today, you have to know how to use it! The best time to run a QuietCool system is any time the air outside is cooler than the air inside the home. In most cases this means your system can start running in the early evening until the following morning.

Effective Cooling with QuietCool Whole House Fans

The most effective way to cool down a home is to open a few windows, (a minimum of 2, usually no more than 5) on opposite ends of the floor you are occupying. For example, in a two story home, you are most likely going to eat dinner in the kitchen downstairs. In this case, it is best to open a few select windows downstairs. This helps create a cross breeze throughout the floor, cooling the most area, in the quickest amount of time, of where you are occupying.

To create a strong cross breeze, the windows should be opened only a few inches each. This creates a negative pressure causing a strong wind to be sucked into the home, compared to air trickling in through a wide open window. It may take some time to find the perfect balance of windows.

Once you are ready to go to sleep in the upstairs bedrooms, you may leave one window open downstairs, and crack a few windows in the upstairs bedrooms that you wish to be cooled. This will create a cooling breeze in the bedrooms of the homeowners’ choosing, as long as the door to each bedroom is left open. To still feel the effects of QuietCool even when the door is closed, we recommend installing a smaller unit in each bedroom. This allows privacy, and each person can control when they feel the amazing effects of QuietCool!
