QuietCool claims, “Of all green energy initiatives, whole house fans are the number one appliance for reducing electricity consumption.” SoCal Edison responds, “You are absolutely correct!”

In a stunning admission, SoCal Edison media contact Mashi Nyssen told QC Manufacturing, Inc. that they agree that whole house fans are the number one household appliance when it comes to reducing electricity consumption.  This is huge news that should be shared with the world!

Over the Labor Day weekend, thousands of SoCal Edison utility customers received an email “warning” them that their upcoming bill might be higher due to the hot weather.  The email offered a link — http://www.edison.com/pressroom/pr.asp?id=7991 — to a media release that offered a variety of tips for consumers to lower their electricity bills.  These included:

  • Use electric fans instead of air conditioning
  • Shut off lights when leaving a room

… and a variety of other standard electricity-saving suggestions we’ve heard since childhood… but no mention at all of using WHOLE HOUSE FANS as a companion appliance to air conditioning! As we like to say at QuietCool, “turn off your A/C & turn on your QuietCool.

So, we called Mashi Nyssen to ask why whole house fans weren’t on the list.  Remarkably, when we stated, “Of all green energy initiatives, whole house fans are the number one appliance for reducing electricity consumption,” Ms. Nyssen replied, “You are absolutely correct!

Now, to make sure we hadn’t misunderstood, we rephrased the point, and Ms. Nyssen again restated that “whole house fans are the number one energy saving device available.”  And when questioned why whole house fans weren’t on the list of energy saving tips for consumers, she stated they had been on previous lists and she would make sure that they were on future lists.

So there you have it!  We’ve been saying it for years, but now SoCal Edison says it, too!  And of all the whole house fans on the market today, QuietCool Energy Saver fans are the most energy efficient of all!
